Picnic party for 7 year olds

We are taking 8 seven year olds for a picnic on Sunday and would welcome any forest games or activities to help the event along. I'm going to buy some little plastic ducks for them to race down the stream and we'll do a treasure hunt but I'm struggling for inspiration at the moment because we're in the process of moving house!!! Any ideas gladly received.

Think your two ideas sound great. We are doing similar for dd1 for her b'day but our wooded area backs onto meadow and flat fields so a friend of mine (PE teacher) is bringing softball equipment and organising rounders type games. Will also have treasure hunt. Could you do a 'nature bingo' type game? Have different pics of leaves/insects/flowers on a bingo card and get them to find as many as they can in set time? You'd have to trust them not to cheat!
Treasure hunt may well take up quite a bit of time if there are a lot of things to find/do.

A bit weird but what about an obstacle course, you would tie a rope between to trees and the kids are blindfolded, the other kids have to direct them around obstacles on the floor, for example if you had beanbags of different colours on the floor the would have to walk around the red ones but pick up the green ones, all while blindfolded and holding on to the rope. Failing that tug of war.
