Playdate 6th Birthday party at home

Whats everyones thoughts or maybe have hosted themselves, a house kids birthday party. Was thinking for about 6 school friends, and make it a kinda playdate, but with party food & games.

I've done this in the past and it has been fine. I usually do a craft, few games, food and then play.

This year the kids are decorating their party bags, making unicorn bark, party games, food, play.

Has anyone been to, or had a children's paint a pot party? And how did it go? Thinking of having one for my 7 years olds party, but worried it would be too boring. It would be painting something then food.
