Quietish creative party ideas (not painting) for 3/4 yeas olds

I wanted a couple of ideas in case it rains. I thought about decorating biscuits or some sort of sticking type thing. Can't face it being too messy (ie painting or cooking) and I don't want it to be over in 3 seconds. (I know that can't be guaranteed though). I thought of buying some sort of elc kit as I have a new baby and not a lot os spare type for preparation.

Has anything worked for you?

Thanks

Threading necklaces/bracelets - cut up straws, get cheap beads, dye pasta etc

Twiglett · 26/05/2007 08:42

actually Lizs necklace thing can be done with strings of liquorice, cheerios, sweets with holes, dried fruit with holes

lots of fun and the kids can take it home

alex we had ours at a local park and so the pics were just stuck on slide, tree etc. COuld confine it to one room - make it easier too.

3 and 4 yo don't need to hide them too well iyswim.

thanks again. My friend told me a good one for maybe slighlty older kids because of pointy ends, use cocktail sticks and fruit pastels (or non-nestle equivalent)and mini marshmellows, make atomic like structures, house etc

I just realised that baker ross is the same as yellow moon.www.yellowmoon.org.uk/. if you buy through them they make a charity donation (or to a local school/play group)

yello moon do cheap, white plastic masks which you can decorate with feathers, beads etc.
Also, icing pens, some sweeties and a packet of rich tea is always fun!

Twiglett · 26/05/2007 17:32

I just remembered Yellow Moon whilst I was doing a Baker Ross shop because I had been given a school catalogue

on one item it was £2.25 on Baker Ross

exactly same item was £2.99 on Yellow Moon with 15% going to the school

so it would cost me an additional 74p to buy through this subsid

School would only get 45p and Baker Ross gets an additional 29p (presumably to fund marketing materials)

was very surprised at the rip off .. would prefer to give school a cheque

Twiglett · 26/05/2007 17:33

oh and whilst I'm being grumpy this root viewer on Yellow Moon was £2 more expensive than same on Amazon

filthymindedvixen · 26/05/2007 17:34

gosh I didn't realise that.

Twiglett · 26/05/2007 17:34

I'm still grumpy because I did it this morning

Twiglett · 26/05/2007 17:38

magic modelling foam

£5.94 on BR
£6.99 on YM with 15% to school
