Can I show a film?

My son really wants to have a Thomas the Tank Engine Party for his 5th birthday. I thought perhaps that we could hire a hall, show a Thomas the Tank Engine Video, eat and then a few games.

Is this 1) boring and 2) illegal?! Would appreciate your thoughts

I do know from reading the small print that it is illegal to show movies on oil rigs

I think (but am not certain) that as long as you're not charging for it then it's allowed - but don't take my word for it!
