ds1 10 want some heelies so i said when its his birthday he should ask grans, aunts etc for money i know its rubbish but they love money
last year he got £360 and was so pleased he got himself a phone with credit, ds lite and games and a stakeboard

Don't be afraid of sending money ggirl - at this age they just love spending it themselves ( and boys mother will be glad you haven't added to the collection of unwanted things that won't get used much), despite your greatest efforts at present buying.

agree about sending money/vouchers. my ten year old got some money from family on his birthday and he felt like a millionaire. it took him a week to decide how to spend it. being able to choose a gift makes them feel grown up
