Party venue is for 24 so how many invites do I send out?

I have hired a venue for ds1 's 4th birthday party. There is a limit of 24 children. What so of take-up rate do you get on a party of this size? Do I just invite 24 or invite 26 andhope a couple drop out?

...I've never done a party for more that 6 children before!

I would sent the invites out early with an early RSVP date allowing you to then invite extras if some people cannot make it.

I had a similar situation,assuming people wouldn't be able to make dd's party and everyone accepted.
I was looking at about 12 2yr olds and now have 20 odd plus a few siblings
