Best areas for trick-o-treating in West London

Halloween is approaching. This will be my family’s second Halloween in London. Last year, I waited too long to go out with the kids and we encountered homes that ran out of candy or had stopped giving.
Given it gets dark here so early, , what is the best time to go and where is the place to go? I know homes around Philmore Gardens / High Street Kensington is a popular spot. I was told there is an area where a lot of bankers live that is popular - live music, lots of decorations. Any suggestions?

You trick or treat in your own neighbourhood , and nobody had better think they are knocking on any day other than the 31st .

thecatfromjapan - You got it! It's not about the pickings. It's about the atmosphere and memories. In my neighborhood as a child, there was one house that always did a "haunted" theme. I still recall the first time I had the courage to walk up to the front porch. Let's just say I ran away quickly . . . I backed out. Year later, I did not fear that home as much, and made it to the front door.

I think halloween is a fun start to the holiday season. My brother-in-law's neighborhood does an annual halloween parade and a committee gives out awards for best decorated homes. One neighbor takes the day off to ramp up his decorations. One year, the neighbor had a body hanging from a balcony. As I walked by it, the body moved and reached out for me. I screamed! The hanging person was alive! I have no idea what their trick was but classic halloween fun. My neighbors back home always dress up as Frankenstein and his bride to pass out candy.

Hello! New to London from the US and I have two school age girls who are quite excited about Halloween. Just wondering what Halloween night is like here. Do many people participate? We lived in a neighbourhood in the US where people really took Halloween seriously. Kids from all over our town came, it was quite festive. It’s my kids favourite holiday. Any suggestions for Halloween fun during the month of October or on Halloween night, anything we should know about celebrating in the UK which may be different than the US ? We are in Chiswick. Thanks!!
