First, I am NOT competitive party bag planning, honest. Second, I know some of you think party bags will bring about the fall of polite society (I've read all the previous threads), but I don't simply don't care.

We're having a 4th birthday party and I'd like some ideas for party bag gifts that aren't hopeless breakable tat or Haribo (although, I am not averse to haribo - I'm not a monster). What have you done that's worked well? I don't mind getting a bit crafty if I have to.

Is it a reception Age party? At that age I did key rings in the party bags, as all the kids liked putting key rings on their school bag. In very un-mumsnet fashion I did spider man for the boys and my little pony for the girls. You can buy job lots of eBay. Seemed to go down well with kids & parents.

yes - half in reception, half in pre-school.
I like the idea of keyrings.

Punch balloons - seem to go down well with most of them

How about a book? You can get fairly cheap box/bag sets on bookseller, or Costco, or eBay and split them, so it only works out about £1 a book.

books and a funsized something work well. tattoos, glo sticks and punch balloons with a bit of chocolate and a piece of cake in a bag work well. We always go unisex and at that age the kids REALLY don't care if their temp. tattoo is a kitten or a super hero or a truck in my experience...

I've seen my little boy get quite excited about looking in the party bag at the end of the party and it almost makes it easier for him to leave lol. I think Nakd Raisins (Cola or Orange) are a great substitute for sweets (tried and tested!) so you don't need to worry about lots of sugar / colours.
Maybe too much detail but I like to try and put party bags together based on the theme of the party so for example...
Under the sea theme - Bubbles, Tropical Jump Fish, Sealife sticker/activity book
Construction Party theme - Play Doh party pack size, pull back car, Yo Yo Bear Fruit Rolls (another great natural product)
www.bakerross.co.uk do some great party bag favours, have you tried www.favourfairy.co.uk, www.kidsbirthdaybonanza.co.uk have the Nakd Cola Raisins.
Hope your little one has a lovely party.

Books, from Book People. My neighbour did them as a lucky dip in a big cardboard box with newspaper.

How about a variety of things in a small bag ; glow stick , sticker sheet, notepad, stick on tattoos, lollipop, pencil and a balloon.

I did animal masks and those really annoying party hooters. DDs favourite party bag gift from this week is a crappy little plastic thing that you squeeze and it shoots a tiny frisbee across the room.

Hobbycraft do pocket money crafts that are quite good. £1 sun catchers & money boxes you can paint for £2.50. Amazon also do wooden necklaces 12 for £4. 20 foam animal masks for £6 from Amazon. If you have a lot of time eBay do superhero cloaks & masks from £1.80- £2.50 each. The cheaper ones take About a month to arrive from china. Punch balloons, blowers etc. Amazon also do pre filled bags for £2 each & you can pick the theme.

Ds once got a metal drinking bottle on a carabineer (sp?) instead of a party bag at age 5 - he was unfeasibly delighted and still uses it.

Books are just virtue signalling and disappointing if it's a duplicate of one the kid has or not their thing.

Novelty pens and erasers go down well, as do keyrings as already mentioned.
