I wonder if someone could give me some advice on having a birthday party in West London. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

do you fancy a party venue (eg eddy catz in Putney - great food, kids seem to love the place... or Syon park's reptile house) or a suggestion for something more diy? In good weather a picnic in Richmond park with some hidden treasure has been very successful. Or you could hire a church hall and do a traditional party games one. St margarets church in west putney have just started advertising their hall for hire and it's great as it has lovely safe gardens nowhere near a road, as well as a big indoor space. i've got their number somewhere...

Thank you very much, TKMaxx, I like all your ideas. I'll have a think which one to go for this year.

I had a super party for DS2 who is 4 on Saturday.

Party was last Sunday and it was on a pirate theme, loads of themed games eg stick the eye patch on the pirate (Johnny Depp), flap a fish in teams (that worked surprisingly well), treasure map and they each picked a square, pass the parcel of course, musical planks etc.

Food was fish fingers and chips, most of them dressed up, pirate balloons in the room, made pirate or parrot masks and had pirate colouring sheets to do. It was a lot of advance work but great fun and fairly inexpensive - had 18 children and a soft play for that number would have cost almost £200 .

Should add that for that number I would never consider having party at home, we hired a hall for 3 hours (half hour before and after party).

Fedda,
We had DD's 4th birthday party at Teddington Sports Centre a couple of weeks ago. It costs £95, you can have up to 25 kids, and then you provide the food.
