Forgot top invite one of ds's class mates to his party, can I invite her tommorrow? Party is on Sunday though.........

DS's 5th bday party is on Sunday. Can't invite all his class as 30 kids is too many. ASked him who to invite instead.

Today he receives an invite to this girls party and I forget to put her on our list so she is not invited. Ds thinks she is coming to his...

Shall I come clean to the mum and say I forgot or will it look like an afterthought just because she invited my ds to hers? (I'll have to mention it to her tomorrow and his party is on Sunday)

I'm sure that most mums understand that you have more on my mind than remembering in photographic detail the names of all your children's classmates!

I would ask her and say I forgot.

she might think you're only doing it because she's invited him to hers, but, well, so what if she does?

invite her. At the end of the day it doesn't matter what her mum thinks, it's what your DS and her DD will think. Just come clean.

I've done this just this week - was wondering why we hadn't had a reply from one boy, whose mum is usually pretty quick with these things, then realised he wasn't on the list. I just came clean with the mum and invited him.

Yes - say you forgot or ask mother if she is coming and then when expresses surprise say "didn't you get invite - I wonder what happened".

This happened to us in Y1. When dd said who she wanted to invite, this boy wasn't on her list. Fine. Day before the party, she's asking me why XXX isn't coming, in front of XXX and his mum! I very openly said, well when you did your list you and xxx didn't play that much. But as someone was sick, he could come and mum was fine about it (though a bit embarrassed as she thought her son had invited himself!). Best to be open and up front imo. You can't invite everyone.

Think what i would do is invite her and 1 other, really crease the envelopes up and say" you never know where I found these!!!!!" that way it doesnt look so obvious! worth a try

agree with others, invite her tomorrow. Tell the mum you think a few invites went astray as there was someone else who didn't get their one either. Saves face, and as someone else said, even if she doesn't 100% believe you it's not likely she'll say anything. Most people IME realise that children can only invite so many classmates to a party.

or you could just catch a few people ans say havent heard is so and so is coming and ask her that way!Pretend you have sent one!!! Children have a habit of losing things

i have done the same, said we lost the invite, girl shoudl be hapy to come whatever circumstances...imo
