My ds is 1 at the end of April and im not sure what to do for a party for him. Was thinking about taking him and his 2 cousins out to the soft play then having the family round for a tea party and if the weather is half decent getting the bbq out.
Just wondered what you did for yours?

End of April should be reasonable weather, sounds good.

My DDs are early March so couldn't get outside but we just had the ante-natal group round for a little tea party.

we had a tea party for both on their 1st birthdays. It was more for the adults than the children.

For my DS, we went to the Zoo on his actual birthday and then had a family/friends party the following Sat. Served lasagne and salad for the grown ups and those children eating grown up food, otherwise people brought their own food along for their babies.

This year going to a farm on his birthday, then having a party the following sat. Will do more of a tea party this time as he and all his friends now wolf down party type food.

we just had the close family round for a few picky bits

Hulababy · 14/03/2007 17:56

We had a tea party for DD on her first birthday - well day before actually. Had grandparents, aunties & uncles round and godparents. There was one other little boy, 7 months older - godparent's son.

Day after me and Dh had day off work and took her to the zoo.

We had a tea party for adults and children - although there was quite a bit of alcohol involved !!

tea party - bought a balloon - baby eats cake!

BizzyDint · 14/03/2007 18:10

dd's will be end of may. i'm planning a picnic with friends and family in a lovely big park near us. it'll be everyone bring a rug, and i'll do some food. and i want helium balloons around where we are so people can see us when they reach the park (it is massive). the park has a playground and also a farm so people can do whatever they fancy really. it'll just be like a meet up kind of thing but it happens to be dd's birthday IYSWIM.

Tutter · 14/03/2007 18:11

we did apropoer party

partly because he was our first (so we had the time and energy) and partly because we hadn't had him christened, so was the first real celebration

hired a small hall and had music and food

won't bother with anything more than cake + grandparents until he's at school now tbh

fifiandtheflowertots · 15/03/2007 15:37

I think we'll just do the family tea party thing and have a day out somewhere the day before.
Bbq can come out if its dry and i'll put the toys up in the garden for the few kids that will be there and then us adults can have a drink.

recoveringmum · 15/03/2007 15:43

pinkchampagne · 15/03/2007 15:45

Didn't do anything much for DS2's first birthday. People popped in with his presents etc, but there was no party.
What a mean mum I am!!

BizzyDint

Great minds think alike! My daughter and my friend's daughter's birthdays are one day apart at the end of May. They are turning ONE!(very proud mamma!) We are also having a picnic for all of our friends in a park. We're giving the children party bags and cake for everyone! Happy Birthday!

dd3 is 1 at the end of april

having a small tea with me, dh and the dds, maybe a mate of mine if around.

Enid · 20/03/2007 11:57

I am letting dd1 and dd2 plan the whole thing for her

Nbg · 20/03/2007 11:58

We took dd swimming and then bought her, her first pair of shoes as she started to walk.
Then we had a family tea a couple of days later.
