Tell me your best party bag stuff for 6 year olds!

I've done books from The Book People in the past, but had quite disgruntled kids, so I'm looking for something that's not disposable tat but which the kids will like. Budget is about £1 a bag, and I'm also going to put in a balloon and a fairy cake.

It's girls and boys aged 5-6, and the entertainer is doing a pirates and princesses theme, but I'd be happy to do something that wasn't themed, too.

Any ideas?

The books probably went down well with the parents not the children

We've given light up balloons, note books and pens, cheap bracelets, stickers, sweets and Lego minifigs (you can buy secondhand ones in bundles on eBay)
