Christening - bouncy castle or entertainer

Booked dd christening for late July, quite a few children coming of mixed age groups. Reception is at local football club so lots of outside space and large function room overlooking the fields. Would you opt for a bouncy castle or a kids entertainer? My only concern with the bouncy castle is that at a friends christening their bouncy castle was full of kids they didn't know.

Bouncy castle would get my vote but you might have to co-opt a few friends into a sort of informal rota to keep an eye on things. Is the any scope for uninvited kids to sneak in? If so, then maybe the entertainer would be preferable.

bouncy castle every time. Trust me. I've seen too many entertainers left traumatised by the kids we know. lol

Interesting, I would vote entertainer myself - bouncy castles need supervising (especially with lots of kids of different ages), whereas the best mixed adult/kid party I went to (was a work party), they'd hired a magician/general entertainer guy and he did absolutely sterling work keeping a mixed group of kids entertained (even young ones, and ones that didn't speak English)

I actually got to have adult conversations with DP and other people at the same time, whilst DS1 bent the entertainer's ear getting him to show the kids more tricks (he was so intrigued by the magic bag that we had to get him one for his birthday)

Thankyou all ... There's loads of kids that would invade a castle even if it's supervised. It's at the local football club, not much else locally so usually kids are at the fc fields playing at the weekend! I think it's going to have to be entertainer to take the stress away!

I don't think either are really appropriate for a christening? It's not a birthday, children will be in smart clothes.

They will be perfectly happy running around in a herd together. Children don't need entertaining, they can keep themselves perfectly happy!

I agree with balls never been to a christening with children's entertainment we have about 15 coming to my DS's and no intention of laying on anything. It's not appropriate

Yes I wouldn't have a bouncy castle, it's a religious thing in a church surely?

I'm fairly certain that the OP isn't planning on having a clown unicycling down the aisle, or setting up a bouncy castle in the vestry. She's organising a party afterwards at a separate location. You know, like you wouldn't have a DJ or a band at a wedding ceremony, but you might very well at a reception. It might not be your cup of tea but it's not that outlandish an idea.
