ideas for a birthday party PLEASE!!!

I want to arrange a fab birthday party for ds1, who will be 8 in May. I wanted to do something different - not the usual playbarn stuff.

the only thing i can come up with is a wild west theme - but i cant find a bucking bronco, so thats out. it just wouldnt be the same. i thought it would be fun! bucking bronco, bacon and beans, cowboys and indians, a high noon shoot out!! i bet that sounds silly - and certainly not pc. but I DONT CARE. it's the sort of thing a young boy would love!

has anyone got some really unusual (but fun, and hopefully not too difficult to achieve) ideas?

i really want something special. ds1 is autistic and he never gets invited to parties even though hes a total darling and we wouldnt have left him anywhere alone, but never mind. i dont know why it is because ds2 is also autistic but he's been invited to 2.

i just want to throw the most amazing party and have them all there to see him in all his glory and show them how great he is.

I did a Harry Potter party for the twins for their 6th birthday. Adults dressed up as teachers and all kids came dressed up too as students. We had hogwarts cut out over the front door and spooky webs etc over the house. We had a sorting hat (tape recording) to sort them in to houses and did different classes, herbology (planted some bulbs etc) Potions (bicarb, vinegar and food colouring etc) charms (had them all learning spells) It was alot of fun, the food was all pumkin juice and drumsticks, puddings piled high. They had a hogwarts cake and a dragon cake. Lots of mums n dads wanted to stay too!

Highly recommended. They want doctor who this year...

Wild west sounds good if he is into that anyway. You could go down the farm route and get in animals or visit a farm park and have the party there. Are you palnning to have it in the house, garden or what? Do you have room for a bucking bronco?

You could play Buckaroo! Or have a shooting bow & arrow (sponge arrows !) contest

i am going to hire a hall, for whatever theme we go for.

i dont have an idea of cost, i wanted to just see what the price would be and then see what i can do to raise it!

ideally, i just want someone to come to the hall, decorate it, do the entertaining and just deal with it for me!

Oh yes buckaroo, you can always get them in the charity shops so you could get a few and have everyone playing.

What about giant buckaroo, make up huge cardboard versions of all accessories and dress up a suitable person, DH or BIL as a horse, mask would do them kids take turn to hook on the bits, would need a saddle to hook onto or something, horse will buck up at a suitable moment.
