Do you have a New Year's eve birthday?

Hi, My dd2 will be 2yrs old tomorrow and i'm finding it difficult to get anyone interested in coming to her little tea party.
The grandparents are all tired out from christmas and her baby group friends are away.
What was it like for you when you were little?
What kind of parties did you have?
Or did it only get interesting once you were an adult... All day new years eve party??
Would just like some ideas.

I sympathise! My dd's birthday is just before Christmas (22nd) and often her friends are away. Every year after a poor turnout I say I'll do a summer party next year, but 10 years down the line haven't done so yet! I think deep down I think it's nicer to celebrate on the actual birthday. Suppose the only advice is to give plenty of notice in future years, so that people can plan their holidays around it!

Good luck with your dd's party - I think at 2 she's probably not going to be comparing the numbers attending with other children's party and will just be glad to have a fuss made of her.

My best mate has a NYE birthday (she's now in her 30s). As an adult she often finds that people are busy with NYE parties and that her birthday gets a bit overlooked. We have also done lunches or afternoon drinks. However, what she tends to do now is have an 'official' birthday on another date - altho this may not go down well with a child.

No it gets worse as you get older !! Can't go out for a meal without booking 5 months in advance, can't get a taxi, a babysitter, friends all busy.....
I have a Xmas Eve birthday & this year was the only time I've ever managed to have a party (2 days before my birthday I must add)
