Simple birthday tea ideas for 6 year old mini party

Inviting 5 girls after school to celebrate dd's sixth birthday. Don't want to go ott as she's having a big party with a friend later in the month. Any suggestions for nice but simple birthday tea? And games? Thanks very much

Some icing and smarties etc to decorate your own ginger bread man.

Cheese straws
Mini sausages

Carrot and cucumber sticks
Grapes

Crisps
Biscuits
Juice

Pass the Parcel

"Afternoon tea"?

Finger sandwiches (cream cheese, jam, nutella)
Some little scones pre-creamed and jammed
Some little fairy cakes
Apple Juice
Those little mini pizzas or quiches
Macaroons

The usual pizza, and a few cakes.

When mine have friends round and I want something fun, but not a full on cake. I do a puffed rice cake. Melt some marshmallows in a very big bowl, add rice crispies and stir till all combined. Put it in a cake tin, or shape yourself by hand. I use a bundt tin. Pop in the fridge for half an hour. Melt some dairy milk choc. Take the cake out of the tin. Pour the melted chocolate over and add some sprinkles and leave to set. Looks great and they love it. You could do some individual ones instead of a big one. Or get them to make it with you.

You could get pizza bases (waitrose do nice frozen ones with tomato already on) then kids add own choice of toppings.

Yes, decorating their own pizza sounds fun. They could also decorate a cake or cookie for pudding? (You might want to serve a few carrot sticks and cherry toms as well, to negate the carb loading!
In terms of activity, I'd probably do some kind of craft if your dd likes it? Baker Ross have a good sale on at the moment. There are, for example, ceramic items, which you decorate with special pens, which round be nice for them to take home. Depends how much you want to spend, obviously.
Or a movie afternoon, with a favourite or new DVD?

An easy way to decorate is with white and an accent color. Keeps thinking to a minimum. Or all one color. Or a Valentines Theme as that is coming up.

Traditional games are always really fun and go down well- a pass the parcel with a little chocolate between each wrapping is good.

We also used to have arty stuff- once mine made crowns- I got the kits from ELC but I bet there are lots on the Internet.

And a traditional tea- sandwiches, little sausages, cut up tomatoes, cucumber, bowls of crisps and of course party ring biscuits!
