Parties/celebrations

Whether you're planning a birthday or a hen do, you'll find plenty of ideas for your celebration on our Party forum.

On no account attempt to deseed and roast 15 mini pumpkins for your Halloween party, no matter how cute they look, because you will end up wanting to commit hari kiri with the knife and no-one will eat the buggering things anyway

Please remind me of this next year as I may forget.

Oh no, what happened did you make the ice cream?

DrFrankenZooey · 29/10/2006 19:45

Oh thank CHRIST I didn't attempt the ice cream, I must have been mad to even consider it. This was the 'simple version' of just cutting the tops off and scooping out the seeds then roasting them. It took for bloody ever and I have a blister on my finger.

They did look cute I must admit but never again

(we made ice cream separately and served it in cones, it was very nice )

15?????

You are mad!

Greensleeves · 29/10/2006 19:47

Oh dear, Franny it does sound like a lot of hard work. Take lots of photos of them

Was the party nice though? Did ds enjoy himself?

We have a kitchen full of various sized pumpkins which I think I am expected to do something with

DrFrankenZooey · 29/10/2006 19:51

Oh it was super and lovely and I will send you photos later, Greeny

Gillian everyone was going to have one each, you see (they are little teeny weeny ones only about 3 inches across). But I seem to have loads over and I seemed to spend several minutes after the party tipping uneaten pumpkins off plates into the bin

The rest of it was fab, really really good fun. The pumpkins were just daft and over the top, though.

The thing is even if people didn't eat them I bet they added to the atmosphere and charmed everybody.

expatinscotland · 29/10/2006 19:56

I'm making them cupcakes instead, w/icing ladden w/food colouring additives and Halloween-themed sprinkles .

very funny thread title

The idea would never cross my mind.

Having said that, I made jellies for dd2's spooky party with gummy snakes at the bottom. When it was time to eat them all the colour had diappeared from the gummy snakes and they had sort of swollen. dh just stared at his one (well away from the kids) and said it looked like a nob.

DrFrankenZooey · 29/10/2006 21:15

Yes you are right Greeny, so right

I will caress my blister lovingly and smugly

Well don't pop it or you will get gangrene and die.

DrFrankenZooey · 29/10/2006 21:23

Au contraire I had a nurse staying this week and she popped her blister and didn't get gangrene or die, so ner.
