Outdoors party and picnic for 6yo

Would an outdoors party be a good idea for a group of around 12 6-year olds? My daughter seems keen on going to a nearby NT place with her friends for a run around and a picnic. The only issues I can see would be keeping an eye on all the children and obviously the weather not being good, but it will be May so I hope we'll be lucky.

Please give me some tips if anyone has done this kind of thing for a party.

Make sure you have plenty of adult supervision - it would be very easy to lose one of them!

I would pre pack individual food boxes, save having to unpack it all when you are there.

I would have some organised games to fall back on if they get fed up of running around.

Have a Plan B in case of rain.

Thank you Leeds, that's exactly what I was hoping for! I am not sure at all what to do for Plan B. And I will look into some organised games.

Could maybe do relay races, skipping, three legged type races if there is enough space.

You definitely need an aternative is the weather is bad. This is what has always put me off outdoor parties. You almost need to organise two parties, unless you have it at home and use garden if weather good

Is there somewhere locally that might have a reasonably sized outdoor education room/building? That would give you a base for food and games if wet.

Encourage parents to stay with offers of tea and cake, to help with crowd control!

Team games could be the way ahead. Treasure hunt, dressing up race, wheelbarrow race, leap frog, obstacle course ...
