Kids themed 40th birthday party

I'm turning 40 next year, and after a tough few years where there have been occasions where it didn't look like I'd make it that far, I've chosen to embrace it.
Among other things, I am planning a huge party at a local sports club, with hot buffet, band, the lot.
I subscribe very much to the theory that growing older is inevitable, growing up is optional, and I try to have fun every day. I don't really do posh or sophisticated and like to be a bit unconventional.
I am considering a kid's party theme to my birthday celebrations, with jelly and ice cream, pick and mix, soft play and party bags alongside the grown up buffet. I am debating some sort of kids TV theme fancy dress as well.

My question is this. Would this work? The party is for about 60 people and maybe 10 kids - it's an evening thing.

If you received an invitation to my party (as described) would you think it sounds like fun or would you think "For Christ's sake, woman, grow up"?

Also, if it's not a ridiculous idea, any suggestions on things I can include?

Thanks.

I think it sounds super fun but there may be some people who don't feel the same and might not be that up for it!

It's your party for YOU to enjoy so I say go for it! Grin

Sounds fab a few drinks then some musical bumps could get very competitive!!

Go for it! Make the fancy dress optional and then people can decide for themselves (they will mostly do it, I'd say!)

Happy 40th! Flowers

Well, you know your friends - doesn't really matter what I'd think.

I presume some will think it fun, others will think they might make their excuses.

No way on earth would I attend!

But, it is your party and you do what you want. Entirely your choice.

I'd go for a mid-70s dressing up theme for everyone! And make sure there are some cheese and pineapple hedgehogs too.
