Hell = soft play places.

DS invited to his first reception year birthday party on Saturday. THREE hours at a soft play place, I won't leave him there so I will have to stay and suffer the noise and hell! I know it's a good excuse to get to know the other mums etc etc but I have so much to do at the weekend I don't want to go -

why do people bollocks up weekends with these occasions- i do mine after school

one mother i spoke to excitedly told me of the choice of spread the soft play will lay on "they give you a choice of cold or hot!!!!!!!!!!!"

cold - jam sandwhiches

hot - chicken nuggets

Well I think with the nursery ones it is because the parents are actually working in the week. And that is also why I do them then. Also means the kids cousins can come.

Gambados is OK - there is an area with sofas etc off the main bit so the noise level is sufficiently dampened to avoid the splitting headache that goes with the Hither Green one. They also sell refillable jugs of squash/water so you can pour endless non-fizzy fluids down your children's throats whilst sitting, reading and drinking coffee. I don't mind taking children there but object to the others.

The security system also seemed quite good there - I think they photograph the children so you can only take out those you came in with. And the toilets were clean.

dont stay oyu freak

oliveoil · 04/10/2006 15:16

the ones near me are very clean and fab actually, apart from the noise, I will give you that, hideous

and dd1 is 4 at the end of this month so am not leaving her on her own (she is a bit of a softarse anyway and would wail)

food is ok, cold stuff anyway

but I can think of far better things to do with my time but dd1 loves it all and I cannot say no!
