Making a fuss on MIL's 60th?

Please can you help? I'm helping out with MIL's 60th. FIL is in charge of meal that we're doing.
So , what I'm looking for is ways to make a "fuss" of her.
For my dad's 60th I did a Powerpoint timeline (a slide for every year) with news events alongside events from his life (lots of sports references which was quite easy). Went down really well but was a huge amount of work (took about 2 months on and off with the research scanning in the pix etc)
I suppose I'm looking for something similar but maybe not 60 slides worth!DH's sister is concerned that if you do a "this is your life" thing it can be a bit like a memorial service before she's died! and tbh I can vaguely see her point.
Anyone have any ideas to share?

how about a scrap book of similar photos? or maybe one from each decade, perhaps with some headlines or fashions of the time and then a really nice photo of her grandchildren at the end?!

How about staging Mr & Mrs

I did a scrap book for FIL's 60th. It was very this is your life. Mr and Mrs would be a lot less memorial and asking the right questions could make it really fun.

We booked a huge log cabin and got the whole family together and made a whole weekend of it, it was all kept a total surprise for FIL.

um...how exactly do you play Mr and Mrs?!
Other ideas I've had are to write her a "comic poem" - just trying to think of ways that make it all about her, iykwim

Mr and Mrs is when you have a set a questions about the couple. You send one out of the room and ask the other one the questions (e.g. what is your wife's favourite breakfast?) and then call the wife back in and ask her the same questions and see how many they get the same.
Then you send the other one out and ask different questions and so on.

sounds as dull as anything when written like that but it's actually quite fun. I'm pretty sure you can buy it as a board game - or you certainly used to be able to.

We knew someone that writes poems so we gave a few key points and they wrote a lovely poem. Unless funny or very lighthearted I suppose this could be a bit memorial.

Looked at this with interest as am currently planning MIL's 60th in November. We've got together a collection of photos and are printing them in a hard back book with photobox.co.uk. I supposed we're lucky enough that she has a shoe box of loads of old photos and we are in touch with some of her friends.

I made a cook book of 60 recipes for my mum's 60th. I scanned them all from various recipe books, added photos of us all, eg with ds holding a banana to make a smile on his face and added comments to each recipe about why I thought she'd like it.

Will follow this with interest. It is my MIL's 60th in November (step MIL before anyone aks why on earth I'm making a fuss of my real MIL!) She is having a big party and I am gettting together lot's of photos to display around teh room.

Like the cookbook idea though.

Google the "When I am an old woman, I shall wear purple" poem. That's a nice one to put in a card or print off on some nice paper and apt for that age group. I feel like that already and I'm only 33!!
