ideas for a 4th birthday party

hi all

My little girl will be 4 soon and I'm totally stumped for ideas. She had a princess party in the house last year...but can't do that this year we have building work being done.

Want to do something cheap (!) - any ideas????

Teddy bears picnic?

I did my dd1's 4th birthday party last year and I think I had lots of crafty activities for them to do. There is a really good web site called Party pieces which has all sorts of not expensive party activities. They also enjoyed playing the normal taditional games such as musical statues, pass the parcel. They also enjoyed just playing with each other. I'll see if I can give you a link

Is there a hall you can hire nearby? You could do activities there or even put a bouncy castle in it?

I recently did a party for my little girls 5th birthday i found a lovely website called partygodmother.com. i ordered everything including games and party bag gifts from there. i received it the next day eventhough i had paid for three day delivery. it was wrapped beautiful with a birthday card for my little girl. It was really lovely

sorry should have mentioned (!) that her birthday is mid-Oct (I know but she's already building herself up....) so nothing outside as in park etc

what do you do about parents coming/not coming? I found it hard last year managing food, kids, party games ....and that was with parents there!!

I say parents can stay if they want. TBH I would rather they didn't, I always feel more anxious with them there! I would rather have a trusty friend or two to help. For me doing girls' parties is an absolute cinch compared with boys' ones!

It depends how much you want to spend.

In the past we've hired a hall and had an entertainer.

Found a fantastic one in our area and you choose the party package depending on the age of the child.

They did party games, disco dances (they teach kids moves),Face painting, tattoos, make up, hair colour, hair and body glitter etc.

Absolutely brilliant and they charged £100 for 1.5 hours.
And they supplied all the prizes and a present for the birthday child.

You could always get a friend to do face painting, get a portable cd player and do your own music, see if someone else would take charge of the games!!!

Kids also like craft activites, then take them home afterwards!!

If you can get a hall, you could always have the teddy bears picnic that was suggested, indoors.
