DH and I are taking our 18-month-old DS to a music festival next month and we need to get some fancy dress costumes. We are rubbish at this sort of thing so I wondered whether anyone has any bright ideas?
It would be nice if the 3 of us could be themed in some way. We can't afford to spend too much money and can't carry anything too bulky. Or if anyone has seen any great costumes for toddlers anywhere online, please let me know (I haven't found anything I like on ebay). Thanks!

Have you tried Woolworths?

clairabella · 25/08/2006 14:16

Hi

Ive found a good website called www.partygodmother.com it has beautifull costumes, they came in beautiful tissue paper the following day, everybody commented they had never seen a costume like it.

how about a pirates and princesses theme?i went to a party a few months ago with that as the theme. or pick something ds is particularly interested in?

fireflyfairy2 · 25/08/2006 14:44

Shrek, Fiona and the Donkey How about 3 teletubbies...

How come you have to dress up for a music festival? Sounds great, I've never been to one before! I think dd's next bday party will be a princess one!!!

nappyaddict · 25/08/2006 14:49

cowboys, cowgirls and indians?
cops and robbers?
mickey, minnie and pluto?
the list could go on ...

Thanks for all your great ideas. DH had a rare flash of inspiration last night after we remembered DS has a bunny costume. So I'm going as Alice and DH is going as the Mad Hatter. It sounds like a lot of trouble for a music festival but apparently everyone dresses up for a big fancy dress parade on the Saturday night and we don't want to be left out!

we all dressed as pirates (we're very sad )

sugarfree · 28/08/2006 19:46

I'm persuading Mr.Sugarfree at the moment,he keeps muttering about the weather though.I won't be fancy-dressing though.

sugarfree · 30/08/2006 08:36

Tickets booked.

Hooray! It sounds really child-friendly, there's a creche, kids' entertainment, bedtime stories etc. I'm still a bit nervous about the camping and logistics but my fancy dress costume arrived yesterday and I'm getting really excited.

Fingers crossed it doesn't rain

With festivals I find it's better to assume thunder/lightening and flash floods and prepare accordingly, then (hopefully) you are pleasantly surprised.
PS.Very important, try not to camp at the bottom of a hill.

Go as Mexicans..The Three Amigos.

You could face paint some stubble and a moustache onto ds - stripey blanket poncho and a mexican hat. Awww

TinyGang · 02/09/2006 11:38

Ooh sorry just read this and see you're all sorted. Sounds fantastic. Have a great time!

littlestar · 02/09/2006 16:16

Thank you! Funnily enough we were going to go as Mexicans if we couldn't get the Alice costumes sorted. I love the idea of DS in a tiny sombrero and giant 'tache
