We're hiring out a hall for 17 children (DD included). So far I have managed to sort the music, get the invites, sort a cake, write a list of food & drink & get some decorations. I'm now struggling with party bags. I don't want to overfill it with crap. I don't know what to put in it! Any other ideas to save me some stress would be lovely. Party is in 20 days. x

Do you have any particular theme? I usually raid poundland or 99p shop. There might be some spring bulb sets, they had little hamsters and finger skate boards.

Another option is the book people Roald Dahl is great or more formulaic but they might be able to read battersea animal stories or the dreaded rainbow fairies

If you have a Home Bargains nearby they have Princess/Spidermen "lucky bags" for 60 p each

if you don't have a theme ... I like punch balls ... you can get on eBay in bulk quite cheaply. Or pencil and rubber and notepad.

or in home bargain / quality save type shop they have packs of moshi monsters. you could put one of those in each. my children are bonkers about them but I have no idea why. they've never seen them on tv or in books ...

I just did party bags for DD's 8th. Depends on your budget (I only had 7 kids coming to a small house party). I bought mugs from poundland and filled them with hair bobbles, sweeties, and a pen and pencil (all also from poundland). They went down well.

DD1 has asked for glowsticks £3.99 for 50 on ebay, bouncy balls £5 for 24 in Asda, haribos and cake in her party bags. The party bags are the most expensive part at 6 for £1.25 in asda.

Food wise we are doing butchers sausages 35p each, in a bun with some chips.

Top hats and rocky road for pud. But not sure, might do some ice cream.
