Charlie & the Chocolate Factory party - inspiration needed!

DS1 is having his party a week on Saturday & I am still struggling to come up with games to fit in with the theme! There will be about 20 kids aged mostly 6, and we're having it in the village hall, so there will be lots of space. A DJ friend is bringing his kit to play some music, but I want there to be games as well as just a disco.

We are having a chocolate fountain & will do "sweet invention" as an activity after the food where the kids get to fill a little bowl from the chocolate fountain and choose what to add to it - rice crispies, strawberry, sprinkles, mini marshmallows, popping candy etc.

Any other ideas that don't involve too much construction/expense? Some of the stuff I've seen on Pinterest is just totally unbelievable - like the person who got an old telly from the tip and hollowed it out to do a Wonka-vision game!!!!

What's wrong with you? If you loved him enough you'd be hollowing out a TV right now!

You could do a picture of violet and get them to stick the 'gum' on like pin the tail on the donkey? If drawn isn't your thing you could just do an enormous blueberry with arms, legs and a head and get them to stick it in her mouth or behind her ear to win.

You could hide golden tickets and do a little treasure hunt?

I thought of the golden tickets one, but as we'll be in the village hall there's not really anywhere to hide them iyswim.

The blueberry one might be doable - not sure my drawing skills are up to the job though! Would it take too long with 20-odd kids?

What about 2 teams putting on as many layers of clothes as they can to look like Augustus gloom?

You could wrap up some sweets in some kind of small container and have the kids search for the 'good nut' (ie sweet)

Mike tv - I saw a good thing ages ago with an egg and spoon type race with wrapped sweets which were then deposited into a cardboard box designed as a TV, you could do that with 2 teams and at the end count how many they've got - each team gets to share out the chocolate they collected but the winning team gets an extra sweet each?

We did pin the tail on the donkey with 20, just have to hurry them along!

You could hide golden tickets on windows, backs of doors, under seats and tables (sticky taped) etx etx

A pinata in the shape of a sweet filled with celophane bags of sweets with a name label on. That way there isnt a scramble with kids trying to grab as many sweets as possible off each other.

The donut game is fun. Hang a rope across the hall over head height and string a load of iced ring donuts at intervals along the rope at mouth height. The aim of the game is to be the first to eat the whole donut, no hands allowed. It went down well at dd's party. Asda do huge boxes of donuts for a couple of pounds, then all you need is rope and some string.

You could have a bubble blowing competition. Biggest bubble.

Not sure if this will work, but...

How about a big box filled up with ripped up paper etc (not sure what the 'etc' could be!) and one golden ticket. Then each child gets 10 seconds or so to try and find the ticket? You could put it back in each time it gets found so that all the children get a go?
