DD invited to Twins Party - presents?

Dd has been invited to twins birthday party. I don't want to offend the mother or twins but I am not sure of the present issue. Do you buy a present for each/or one that both can play with. Neither would be a problem but having not known twins before I want to make sureI get this right and not offend anyone. Can any mumnetters with twins help me?

Is she friends with both? If so, I'd go for a present each (similar gifts but not identical) but if she's only friends with one, I'd buy just one.

My twins always ask seperate friends so only one present each. Is the invite from 1 or both twins?
I don't like stuff to share from family but see no problem in present to share from friends

Agree with SoupDragon ... if she is friends with both, or the invitation came from both, then a present for each. If she is only friends with one, or the invitation only came from one, then a present for her friend and just a card for the twin.

If the invitation is from them both, then yes a card and gift each.

It's hard to know how to play it, I know. When my dt's go to a party they each take a present and a card. Atm all their friends are joint ones, so they each have a gift at their party from the friend.

But they are starting school in Sept in different classes - I just know it'll get complicated when they make separate friends, but I'll try and make it clear for the guest's mums to avoid confusion.

my ds is best friends with twins. He always gives them two presents on theri birthday. They give him one present on his.
It does generally tend to be of a higher value equivalent to two though.

separate presents, or one present of higher monetary value, if the children are older.
its a case of something to unwrap each. and if you are invitiing the twins, then they should bring one each, as the invite is for two kids, not one.

Thank you all for your replies, the invite came from both of the twins, so I will buy a present for each one .

Now you get the real challenge of finding two things of the same value which are kind of the same but different...

We have twins in our family too. They are 7. Their mother (SiL) is a bit anal about them being the same and dresses them alike, etc. We are instructed to buy identical gifts and they have 2 of each toy in their house.

My DD had a party and invited twins from her nursery. They each brought a present and SiL thought this was a bit OTT. The other twins' mother said when I thanked her for both gifts that they always bring a present each as when other children come to their parties, they give the twins a present each. I never thought of it like that.

When I asked SiL about this she said when her twins go to a party they give one gift from both of them. But when it's their party, she would be annoyed at one gift for her twins to share. I thought that was a bit odd, tbh.

Anyway, I hope that makes sense! Just my experience :)

I think it is a bit cheeky to give one present and expect two back. When they go to parties the host is providing two sets of food/prizes/going home gifts so it doesn't really balance out.

I have twins - they generally get one present each at their birthday party,from the kids they invite and if they both are invited to a party, they each take a present for the birthday boy/girl. They are two individuals, not one commodity, so find the idea of joint presents(giving or receiving) to be a bit tight.

I would class each child as an individual, so would buy two presents, probably would ask the mother though if she would prefer one more expensive present to share or if 2 indiviudals ones will be OK.

Speaking as a twin myself, buy each twin their own present!!!!!!!
