Party bags - is this poncey?

Also is there an "e" in poncey? Poncy?

Anyway, ds is having a forest school party for his 4th birthday.
In the party bags I'm putting a small craft set (makes a caterpillar), a chocolate ladybird, haribo gummy worms and a really nice largish plastic insect (wild republic one).

Would it be totally sad to put a little fact in about the insect? There are ten different sorts in the bag so I was thinking things like "grasshoppers have five eyes!" and that sort of thing. I've removed the greenbottle flies as the only fly fact I could think of was "flies eat shit!" which obviously was not appropriate.

Think that would be nice or silly?

Actually I also wanted to give them names - I'm Stanley the stag beetle and I'm one of the biggest beetles in this country.
I'm Bobby the blue ant and I'm actually a type of wasp although I can't fly.

I need more hobbies don't I?!

Awww,I think that sounds fun and my science-y DS would love it.

I tend to go crazy planning party themes. I really enjoy it, so why not? :)

Completely poncey - but wonderful! My ds's would have loved it, especially the one about eating shit.

raisinggirls · 16/05/2013 15:25

Nice I think! How many do you have to do though?!

mermaidbutmytailfelloff · 16/05/2013 15:27

Except.....greenbottle flies according to wiki eat dead things....

'Flies eat shit' Grin

Idbeloveandsweetness · 16/05/2013 15:31

Is eating dead things any better though, that's the question?! I think I should leave the fly out. I think maybe they basically eat anything disgusting. Don't they eat the food, vomit, and then eat the vomit? They are truly revolting.

I have 15 coming but it wouldn't matter if I had a couple the same since I have two of each sort of insect and they won't open them until they get home anyway.

Will I appear insane to the parents if I name the insects? The grasshopper looks like he should be called boris but really needs an alliterative name I suppose, like his friends.

Gertie grasshopper? Graham?

I sadly probably must agree with the fly.....but the kids would love it.

lljkk · 16/05/2013 16:18

Not sad or poncy at all, sounds great to me.

BornToFolk · 16/05/2013 16:20

I vote nice! DS (5) loves "facts" (especially if related to poo, so I say leave the fly in)

StealthOfficialCrispTester · 16/05/2013 16:22

Sounds fantastic!

MimsyBorogroves · 16/05/2013 16:24

No, it sounds fab! (And please do name them, but give them "MN names")

RedPencils · 16/05/2013 16:32

Utterly poncetastic. Smile

Idbeloveandsweetness · 16/05/2013 18:01

:-) Sharon the greenbottle?

louisianablue2000 · 16/05/2013 18:07

Not poncy, more nerdy but I say that as an out and proud nerd. DD2's birthday coming up, I may have to copy...

Idbeloveandsweetness · 16/05/2013 18:28

I'm putting in an insect joke too. Blush

What did one bee say to the other? Buzz off.

Hysterical.

Graham the grasshopper! Yes!

OP posts:
givemeaclue · 16/05/2013 18:35

Not poncy and a nice thing to do although none of them will look at it

fuzzpig · 16/05/2013 18:36

I think it's cute :)

Idbeloveandsweetness · 16/05/2013 18:38

Some are a bit older though giveme, so they might?
Our age range goes from 4 - 11.

I think they sound nice. Also surely Greg the grasshopper?

Idbeloveandsweetness · 16/05/2013 18:41

Greg is also good. I will have one Greg and one graham, since I have two grasshoppers to name.

I also have a fire ant, a blue ant, a stag beetle, a rhino beetle, a willow leaf ant (very specific), a jewel beetle, a monarch butterfly and a praying mantis!

OP posts:
SillyBlueHat · 16/05/2013 20:24

Monarch butterfly - Lizzie?

stealthsquiggle · 22/05/2013 22:06

This sounds fab, OP. I wanna come to this party.
