Southbank? There's a Giraffe as well lots of space for crawling/toddling in the Royal Festival Hall.

There's a children's cafe in N16 which does parties - That Place on the Corner.

I've seen that place on the corner but I don't think its big enough. DH and I have such big families that even with just close family and friends we're looking at around 50 ppl (which I know is too many for a 1st birthday really Blush )

If you're looking at 50 adults then I would go with hiring a hall to be honest and maybe hire some portable softplay for the babies to crawl around in/chew on. And provide booze for the adults.

anyone know of any halls that do 4 hours hire for good price?

Where in London are you/want to be? There are some big soft play centres you could hire (tho adults might have to stand around in ball pit as they don't normally have heaps of "mingling" space.

Gambado's has a room big enough for hire.
