Games for a 3 year old girl's party?

Hello all, we're having a small party (6-8 kids) for our 3 year old. From what I've observed at other parties, they're a bit young yet for a lot of the competitive games (especially the ones where you're 'out' if you lose - they don't seem to get / like that concept). Does anyone have any other suggestions for nice, simple games? The ones I've seen so far that work OK are Pass the Parcel and simple dancing games eg keeping a balloon in the air for as long as possible etc. Does anyone have any other good suggestions? They need to be fairly simple (I have three small kids, so limited time) and not too expensive to produce.

Come up with a list of e.g. Fairy, elephant, baby, snake (I've got boys, so keep thinking pirate, lion, dinosaur...), and then get all kids to pretend to be whatever you've called out. Best gets a sweet, all get to carry on.

Pictures of 4 different items from a group (banana, grapes, orange, strawberries for example). Blue tack them up one on each wall of your biggest room (it needs to be quite big). Get every child to choose a fruit, and stand underneath it, then pull an item out of a bag - whoever is standing underneath the picture which matches gets a very small prize. Continue til board!

Dancing to music, stop when music stops. Prize for last to move. All back in next round.

Nextphase, thanks, those suggestions have given me some ideas for my DDs 4th birthday party next week.

Other ideas which worked well at her 3rd birthday party were musical spots- like musical chairs but they stand on circles of coloured paper instead. They liked songs with actions, so we spent quite a while singing if you're happy and you know it, okee cokee, etc (but try and get lots of adults to join in with singing so you're not singing on your own like I was!). Also craft type things seems to work well, making badges, hats, icing biscuits, etc. They can take them home with them too so it saves a bit of money on party bags!

Hi there thanks for the ideas, watching with interest as DD's 4th birthday party is looming and I'm a bit apprehensive about entertaining lots of 4yr olds. Pass it on looks good.

Well the musical spots went down well, as well as a 'torch disco'. Gave them all a small torch, turned the lights out and gave prizes for the best dancing.

thanks! Laughing at the thought of a torch disco, sounds very lovely!!! Love little ones dancing. I've got 25 coming at last count, so don't think I'll have enough torches. Thankfully it's in a hall.
