Hello, me again
Want to host something short and not too £££ for our neighbours at some point during "the holidays" (excuse naff americanism)
Needs to be during daylight for various reasons but don't want to do lunch
Am thinking mince pies and winter pimms or tea/coffee for those who don't want booze
What else could you serve?

Watching with interest, as I'm thinking of something similar! What time are you thinking? How many adults/kids?

Mulled wine is what you want, mince pies, tea, coffee and homemade shortbread or ginger biscuits.

MrsE, good idea. That sounds vv Christmassy and not too cocktail partyish.

Mulled cider, and mulled apple juice go down well. I made mincemeat cupcakes yesterday for a community event and they were scoffed at speed.
IME, for any number of people, tea and coffee is a PITA as you are always going back and making it - wheras you can do a pan of mulled stuff and just leave it on a very low heat or in a slow cooker. Plus it makes the house smell lovely.
