Halloween party in reception - would you?

DD started reception this year, and seems to spend all her time with 2 friends she knows from before. Toying with the idea of holding a small Halloween party in a bid to get her to socialise a bit more...going to be a bit last minute but hopefully that should be ok. Guessing parents would want to stay as they dont know us. Sooo...is it a good idea? How many would you invite? Just girls or both boys and girls? Is an hour and a half long enough...was thinking 3-4.30, with nibbles for the parents, and tea for the kids. Keep it fairly toned down (ie no scary stories) as they are still quite little. Suggestions welcome!

We are having a Halloween party! Dd is in reception and has too invited 3 little friends plus 3 non school friends. We did one last year too and it was great fun
Ours is 2.30-4.30 with food and games/crafts.

We're having one - DC has chosen 1 school friend and we've invited 3 other friends plus siblings so 7 children plus 4 adults.

We're decorating the house fairly simply then playing a few halloween games; pin the glove on the skeleton, pass the pumpkin, sleeping monsters etc and then having a party tea.

DS is 4 on Halloween, hope I eventually get good at the flipping Halloween parties!

Op I'm hoping to do the same, 2 friends each from dd's play school and ds junior infants class. I am working until Thursday so would a note for their friends be enough? I'm not sure of the etiquette [nervous icon]

We had ours today,as we had an inset day.
Pin the tail on the cat, get some a2 thick paper from whsmiths, we had orange background, then I drew a large cat on the black paper and cut it out, and stuck it on the orange. Ten, cut the tail...
Jelly feeding, in pairs, one is blindfolded and is fed the jelly, or yogurt.
Mummy toilet paper wrap, in pairs
Doughnut ring eating game, on string
Musical bumps, or musical boo! They shout boo when music stops
Arts and crafts maybe....lantern making,,,, Get jars... They decorate with sticky coloured tissue paper, you tie string around top so they can carry them safely, then put the alight in.... You could walk the kids home with them, instead of trick or treating.

We did one last year when DD was in Reception - she invited some friends, DD, DS and friends' parents for a glass of wine (or several) - 10 children in total with siblings. I put decorations up, did a Halloween tea and Yellow Moon for Halloween craft stuff. Worked out quite expensive although we still have the decorations and leftover craft stuff for this year (and next...) [hsmile]

Brilliant ideas everyone, I finally invited 4 little friends 3.30-5. Pumpkin carved to place outside. Bought some table decorations. Planning to get them to make their own pizzas, play pass the pumpkin, face painting and pin the stalk on the pumpkin. Haven't organised very many parties, so fingers crossed!
