Am I mad? Christening related.

We are having a christening in August. I am currently trying to find somewhere to go after the christening for a bit of food and drink etc.

We have contacted the wine bar where we went after my DS's christening's but they didn't know if the chef would want to do a buffet and if not we would have to order off the menu when we got there. I don't want to do this as we have 35 people coming.

So I thought about seeing if we could just hire a hall and either get a local cafe to do a buffet. I have used them before and they are really great. Or do the food ourselves and have a nice afternoon tea type spread.

If DD comes on her due date then she will be 6.5 weeks old. Am I insane to even be considering doing the food myself? I think my Mum and best friend will help out.

For our dc2 we hired the church hall to have afternoon tea. Loads of people offered to bring food/ drink, so we asked for specific things (generally quiche etc) and ordered the rest from Waitrose. They have big platters of meats which went down really well.

My mum set to work on cakes and we had several victoria sponges.

If you have plenty of helpful friends (as opposed to those who offer but just stand around....) it could be great!

And for dc3 we had it at home when she was 7 weeks. So do-able, if a bit exhausting :)
