We make a nice hedgehog cake by cutting a circular sponge cake in two then standing up the semicircles to make a body we put prickles (choc button halves) on. Maybe you could try something similar for a duck by also doing another small sponge circle, cutting in half, and adding to one end to make a head. Ice with yellow?

I have a cake decorating book I am flogging on Ebay with a duck cake in it. I could scan in the duck instructions and e.mail if you are still looking.

You could make 2 round sponges

Cut about a sixth out of one and attach the edge of it to the tail end of the 2nd cake.

Cut a 2nd sixth out of the first cake and place it at the neck end of the first cake.....then shape a little for the beak

Cover the whole lot with yellow buttercream and dye a bit orange for the beak - a choc button for the eye and you're away It might be worth raising the buttercream a little to show the shape of the wing or use some of the orange B/C to do that and put some definition on the tail feathers

That makes very little sense but I drew it and it works
