Special present for 65 yr Dad

I really really don't know what to get him. He doesn't need anything! He loves rugby, food and wine and travelling. A bit of gardening, reading and film. Also the 60's.

Any ideas for something quite special? He's treating it as a special birthday (we're going for a special big family weekend away) so the present needs to be kind of special too, I guess.

How about (if your budget allows) a trip to the St Emilion region or similar. That way you could combine three things. Ive always fancied a trip o the orient express to Venice tho am put off by lack of ensuite facilities! I don't know anything about rugby or gardening - sorry!

Can he use a computer? We got my dad a subscription to an ancestry website so he could research the family history, it costs around £60

Ooo, a magazine subscription, that's a great idea! Thanks!

Aftereights that's an awesome idea, but the budget definitely doesn't allow it! He would love that though.

Actually it wasn't a magazine but a pack with a CD in it and access codes so that he could do online research.

Blush sorry. Obviously not reading properly. I blame sleep deprivation.

Did make me think of a magazine subscription though, so thank you all the same!

You should do a search for Oliviamumsnet's December 2011 thread on ideas for a present for her FIL. Or was it her dad? Anyway there were loads of ideas on that thread.

Thanks, just had a look and there are stacks of ideas on there. Thank you very much!
