Overthinking the date of the party!

Always manage to completely overthink the DCs parties and fret about all sorts of unimportant things!
Can I just ask you more relaxed Mumsnetters if you think its a good idea to have a party on the last day of the summer term in Reception?
They finish early that day and the whole class would be invited. Would do it fairly close to end of school and most people live nearby.
Would be an entertainer to keep them vaguely under control as the boys have a habit of going mental Smile...
Do you think they'll all be too knackered or have other special end of term type things planned? (I don't mind if some can't come but I want a good turnout).
There are loads of birthdays around then and summer weekends always seem to be booked up...
The hall and entertainer are available (and cheaper as a weekday...) - seems madness to have to think about July but thats what it's like round here...

I can see that it might work, they may be tired and hyped though but that would be entertainer's problem! I would talk to the reception teacher about what they usually do on the last day. Ours sometimes have a party (not that two parties in a day is beyond the capacity of a 5yr old!).

If you do decide to go ahead, if there is a class list I would be tempted to send round an e-mail onced booked, in a save the date kind of way, then formal invites nearer the time.

Don't apologise for overthinking! I'm already wondering what I can do for the dd1+2 joint 8th + 6th 'strictly come dancing' party that they have requested, but should probably get through dd2's 5th party tomorrow first!
