Ahhh still obsessing over the details of dd2 party. It is a fairy and goblin party, 14 reception age girls, 4 reception age boys. For the party craft they are making fairy houses (ikea plastic plate with mini pail on its side, decorated with feathers, twigs, stickers etc). Dd2 decided that the boys can make dinosaur houses. I found some bargain mini dinosaurs, and some slightly larger ones. I have enough mini dinosaurs for everyone to have one. I also got some slightly larger ones for the boys instead of the decidedly pink pipecleaner dolls which I have made for the girls. I had planned to put a dinosaur/ fairy by every house, along with fairy snow dust and a mini cone of minature fairy sweets. Now dd (think that might stand for dear dictator) says she wants them to choose their fairy (not sure will do that as migh cause squables - and they are all the same); but it got me wondering what I will do if the boys want faairies instead.

My current options are to go ahead on gender lines regardless (easiest), make 4 extra pink fairy dolls (take 10+ min to make), or make 4 green goblin/elf dolls for the boys, but then do I give them a choice of dinosaurs or goblins, and what if the girls want dinosaurs instead?

I think you need to ignore DD's request that they choose their identical fairy and just give them out, especially if you have something different for the boys.

If you are going to listen to her request, then you should make the extra 4, preferably in pink so you don't get a girl complaining that she wanted a green one.
