My ds has decided for his 5th b.day party he wants a dinosaur party. Has anyone done one and if so, can you offer any advice for party games or anything that went well or you think in hind sight would have been better.

Thanks in advance.

we did a small party for a dino mad 6yr old(just 6 people plus my 4).struggled to think related games but we did find "find the dino eggs" quite successfull.....fill box with rice krispies/shredded paper and add either chocolate bals or cardboard decorated egg shapes.we did 2 boxs-one rice and choc, one paper and card eggs for the older kids.time limit and how many can you find....hope that helps a bit.good luck

Like that idea and as Tesco has already started selling easter eggs I might do well with the choc eggs. Thanks. I have to limit my little boys list as there may be 30!

I'm doing something similar for ds3's 4th birthday in a couple of weeks.
There'll be a mix of games, dinosaur's footsteps, dino tag, etc. Then they'll get dino-shaped biscuits to decorate, will make a salt dough magnet and decorate party bags.
Baker Ross has packs of dino-themed party stuff on offer, I got enough for 24 kids for £20.

Just had an idea from a freind of placing small dinosaur inside a balloon and letting the children try to pop the balloon to get the dinosaur e.g hatching the dinosaur out of the egg. Do you think that 5 year olds would be up for that or too noisy / upset them?

My DS had a dino party last year. I made some dino footprint invites (green paper cut into shape of footprint with printed A4 invite to X -osaurus). Drew chalk dino footprints on the floor leading up to the hall.

For games we did

What's the time Mr Dinosaur (DH dressed up in v cheap Ebay dino outfit to be Mr Wolf/ Dino)
Hatch the dino egg (Burst the Balloon game) - bought little rubbery dino's from Baker Ross, was easy to insert them and didn't burst the balloons inadvertantly)
Musical Dino island (musical 'chairs' but with painted cardboard circles from cereal boxes instead of chairs)
Dino pinata - the opportunity to thwack something hard much enjoyed by rowdy boys

DON'T buy a cheap less than £5 version of pin the tail on the dinosaur from Ebay - as you definitely get what you pay for and it was crap!

Any ideas for music to have at the dinosaur party?
