Get more party bags or risk it? WWYD

It's ds's 5th birthday party on Saturday. We invited the whole class plus some out of school friends. It's a big class (24), but we're having the party in a hall, plenty of adults to help, I'm not scared .

A week after the invites going out... 2 replies (plus the out of school friends whose mums I'd spoken to personally)

Day before the RSVP deadline (week before the party)...10 replies, so we're up to 15 coming and that's a nice number.

By the time I went to Tesco yesterday to get party bags etc there had been a few more replies and we were up to 19 coming. I got 24 of everything to make sure we had enough.

Today there was another wee flurry and we're up to 24....

Would people just turn up on the day? With those sorts of numbers I'm guessing we'll get some no-shows. Can I risk not blowing another tenner on assorted tat and paper plates/cups (everything seems to be in packs of 6 or 8)?

Surely if there are 24 in the class and you've got 24 of everything then theres no-one left to come 'unexpectedly'.

Or is there danger of siblings trotting along with Parents who stay to 'help out' ?

If the latter then I wouldn't get proper party bags for these extras-just a plain sandwich bag to carry some cake and a balloon home in will be fine.

No, unfortunately not. There are quite a few non-school friends/family. It looked at one point that there wouldn't be many going at all so dh invited a couple more..

I think I'll get stuff for another couple of party bags just to ease my nerves. Thinking about it, there are about a dozen Ikea type plastic cups and plates in the church kitchen so I can just use them if need be rather than buying more packs of disposable ones.

Well. the party's oooooooover (it's time to call it a day etc)

Things got a little hairy at one point when I counted 29 (we were up to 26 by last night) as I think some siblings joined in, or some random children wandered in off the street, but as I did cave and bought more tat there were enough to go round. And no tears so that's a result Grin
