she would love this but is it "wrong" do you think? I would take dd and 5 friends to park for a play, then to a local salon to have nail art, fake tatoo and a natural facial (all specifically for children, not botox or nail extensions!)then back home for a teaparty with grandma and brothers etc. I thought it was a good idea, then i saw the mother on this morning a few minutes ago and wondered if it was bordering on her madness!

Yes, it is wrong.
Very wrong.

Some of her friends might hate it. I know my DD would have done. She (and I) have no objection to a bit of nail varnish, but prepubescent children do not need 'facials' - thats just weird. Leave out the salon and add some games (at park and/or home)

DD got invited to one when she was 5 Shock I was appalled, so was she, and she didn't go.

She has been invited to one or two a year ever since (8 now) and has been to a couple. I agree it's a bit off. but it isn't quite as bad as I thought. The ones near us do nails, a bit of eyeshadow and sparkly stuff in the hair, and then games.

I agree it's yuk, and I'd try to think of something else if I were you. But if you feel you have to go for it, choose somewhere that's light hearted about it.

mm, i got the impression that the salon was quite lighthearted and her friends are all very girly(i know the mums well and think that they would all be ok with it as long as the kids didnt come home with full makeover etc) I think that i will go to salon and ask a few more questions.

Think it'll be fun! May be the facial a bit ott for 8 year olds but they'll love nail art and fake tattoos.
