Treasure hunts are always good, especially if you add in tasks - hide notes saying things like you are about to cross the desert all must drink and then hide a decorated bottle for them to find. My lot particularly enjoyed having to find a sword to stab the silver foil heart on a picture of a dragon/ monster and see tomato ketchup ooze out.

A Harry Potter theme is good. You can play Quidditch outside with hoops, adults chucking soft balls as bludgers (borrow racquets or rounders bats for beaters) and make a snitch be spraying a ping pong ball gold and attaching it with springy elastic thread to a pole or broom handle.

Hope that helps

yes - have you got space at home do DIY? this was surprisingly easy and successful for mine at 7. i just had to have a schedule, and lots of games up my sleeve, all props organised in advance. they loved it. there are loads of brill games to suggest.

if you want it a bit more organised for you, then i'd say swimming party, cinema trip, some kind of adventure place? go ape, in the south.

How about buying them all a water pistol and taking them to the park for a massive water fight, with a picnic afterwards.
