having panicked that everyone would be away over easter and unavailable to come to DS1s party I invited the whole year group. I now have 36 children coming plus 3 younger siblings (all 1-2).

I had no idea so many would come. thankfully its not at home but how much food do I need realistically?

AAAAgggghhhhhhh!!!!!!!

I would think of it as 4 tables of 8/9 and organise food accordingly. So you'll need 4 plates of sandwiches, 4 bowls of crisps, 4 bowls of sausages/grapes etc etc

Or 6 tables of 6 (realise they might sit in a long line but you'll want bowls/plates of food for every 6 or so kids).

Does that make sense. I'd get lots of bowls/plates and plate as much of it as possible in advance or have friends in the kitchen to do this while the party's going on.

Gulp - now 37 - they just keep rolling in. I'm going to end up with 50 kids under the age of seven aren't I!!!!

Thanks tass that makes it easier to visualise. Thank goodness the village hall is big! I might see if they will let us in early and lay out all the food before the children arrive and maybe cover it with cloths or something until we're ready to eat.

I am scared!!!!!

You'll be grand. Foodwise it really is all about multiplication, work out how many for 6/8 and keep multiplying up. Do you have an entertainer? You need to rope in friends/family to help. Enjoy!

we have bouncy inflatables (which are going to need quite some monitoring and supervision with that many kids!). Am off to wrap a pass the parcel which might keep them quiet for ten minutes. Only 1 hour 50 to go!!

With that number of children I'd get an entertainer in. That will take up an hour (and preserve your sanity)!
