Oh my usual answer for Friday Night Questions is 'if you don't have anything else in, butter will do but warm it first'.

But otherwise, I don't know. The best birthday party 3yo dd ever went to involved little pots of bubble stuff for every child. They self-entertained for hours. Or one adult full of hot air blowing bubbles is similarly useful.

PMSL at SOH!
I thought I'd try a sneaky Friday night ref to get people in...
(Have managed to put baby down for now, hence caps and punctuation and everything!)

Yes, maybe bubbles are the way forward.

Fun size sweets always go done well!!
With musical statues, mormally only the winner gets a prize. In pass the parcel you can put a little prize in each layer and then a colouring book or something as the 'main' prize.

If you go to tesco or somewhere similar or (if you can bare it ) toys r us, they usually have a party section with party bag type prizes for cheap (ish) prices- enjoy!!

missmapp · 11/03/2011 19:29

or even bear it, best not o bare oneself in toys r us!!

Tortington · 11/03/2011 19:29

no not everyone gets a prize - kids have to learn about winners and disapointment

i give crap 50 p toys

Before at ds's parties we have given bubbles/ small pots of playdough/ interesting crayons etc as prizes. I put sweets in every layer of pass the parcel but inevitably there are not enough layers for each child to get one as dh gets bored confused when wrapping it all up Grin

Don't force them to stop playing when they are out, or there will be tears. Get a big pile of hats and scarves and the 'losers' get to wear one and carry on playing.

IShallWearMidnight · 11/03/2011 20:51

Or have a bowl of jelly babies or similar and those that are out get to pick one. Although they will carry on playing so you need to remember who is still in to declare a winner. Like the hat/scarf version as well though.
