Party dilema for 3 year old DS

I sent out some party (about 6 in total) invites for his friends from nusery to come and celebrate with him and only 2 have said they can attend, there is only one person who has yet to rsvp. Shall I just turn it into a playdate instead or still do party games etc? I feel so sad for him and haven't yet told him. What shall I do?

Aww, what bad luck. Can you invite some others - either from nursery or any of your friends with similar aged children? You can still make is special though; there were 6 at my DD's 3rd and I got a party game CD to do musical statues and simon says plus some music like the hokey cokey, and I also did a treasure hunt where they followed the clues and picked up things for their party bag. No reason why this wouldn't work with just 3 or 4.

Don't feel sad for him, he is only 3 and will think that it is fantastic that 2, possibly 3, friends will be coming to his house. :)

I am sure that the people who have declined have other commitments, it is not that they don't want to come.

How about making it a playdate but with one or two games and a cake plus party bags? So a kind of luxury playdate?
