Party bag alternatives for 4 year olds

It's my son's birthday soon and I'd like to give an alternative to a party bag. One of the children in his class recently gave books from one of the big book sellers which on googling worked out at about £1 per child which is very reasonable for such a good present.

I wondered if anyone has any similar ideas and recommendations of wear to buy? I've seen a suggestion of animal masks - if anyone can recommend where to get these I'd be grateful.

My son (now 5) but we have had some good party bag alternatives lately - some go with party theme - hoops (for clown party) blow up guitars (music party) Little wooden boats (pirate party) - I generally do books (from banana books) with a balloon

DD went to a party last weekend - the party bag contained a bottle of (matey) bubble bath

Hi - sorry the Mum got someone crafty to make then for her with the name of the child and the date on the bottom - they were v cute and not all that different to reproduce I wouldn't have thought
Also re UniS seed idea - we went to another party that had bulbs wrapped in cellophane and a handwritten note attached detailing how to plant - what it was etc - my kids loved doing that too

We're going to have 2 bowls by the door, one with a christmas cracker in (for kids) and another bowl with a choice of rings, stretchy lizards and something else and they can choose 1 or 2 things depending on how many i have and how many kids turn up.
