long story but due to an unforseen last minute change of plan I need to entertain 8 x 9yr old boys for an hour or so before we resort to dvds etc. In the past we've had some gross/messy party games. We had a feel the food one whihc went down very well but I cant remember what food i used. You blindfold them one at a time and they put their hands in bowls of stuff and they have to guess what it is - jelly, ready brek, tinned spaghetti/beans, having a mental block and struggling after that. Other one that went down well was eating something - maltesers or popcorn eg with a cocktail stick. any other ideas for stuff to put their hands in or other games of this sort greatly appreciated thanks

Frozen/chilled mars bar (or similar). Big pile of hats/scarfs/gloves each. Race to finish the mars bar - first put on all hats/gloves etc then have to eat it with a knife and fork!

If you want really messy there's the one with a bowl of flour mixed with smarties or similar. Upturn it on a plate and remove the bowl (presumably you need to press the flour with a small plate first to keep it bowl shaped when you tip it out. Then they need to get the smarties out of the flour without using their hands! (get a big plastic sheet for underneath!)

Potato Scone/bread dipped in treacle hanging from a line - eat without hands! (I was in the guides - we never came home clean!)

thanks folks, i have actually pinched ideas from cubs halloween nights before. Problem is quite a few of the boys have diet problems, allergies etc so had to be careful. We ended up playing feel/guess the food with tinned spaghetti, jelly, custard, mashed banana, 'super noodles' and ready brek. Went down very well, They were all allowed popcorn so we put 30 bits on a plate for each of them and they had to eat it without using their hands whhic was quite good as well!

Split them into teams of 3 or 4 and get them to turn one of the team into a mummy using Lidl's cheapest big roll. Not too messy but good boisterous fun.

ah - just started a thread asking the suitability of this game that just popped in to my head!!! maybe of some interest to you??

You need:
2 plastic dog poos from the joke shop
2 dustpan & brushes
2 pieces of paper
2 teams of kids!

First person dashes up to dog poo on the paper, sweeps it up and then runs back with it and hands whole lot over to the next person who has to run with it and put it back on the paper. They run back and pass dustpan and brush on to next person who goes and retrieves it etc...
