Mum's 60th dinner party - how to make it fun?

She's having a sit down dinner for about 25 of her girlfriends at a v posh place where she has booked a private room. She has a pianist who will play during the evening but we were wondering how we could make it a bit more fun. She's worried it'll all be a bit serious. Any ideas?

How lovely Smile

What about lots of photos of her and her friend over the years. These could be laminated and put on the tables.
Will be a good talking point.

I don't think it will be serious, friends plus food plus drink will alway end in laughter!

I got some of these for my Mum's 60th birthday to send out with coffee. They looked lovely

Disposable cameras for tables?

Mount the photos and have some funny captions with them.

Ask pianist to play some lighthearted stuff.

Is anyone going to do a speech? If so I'm sure internet or mumsnetters will have ideas for making it fun.

Hope its a wonderful celebration!

How about quiz questions for the tables about the year of her birth or similar to get people talking.

Have a comments book circulating too.

I went to a similar party recently and they played the theme to Antiques Roadshow as people came in.....everyone thought it was really funny.
