He is a very capable chef at home, he loves masterchef etc and is regularly talking about techniques and cuts of meat and stuff.

so I thought I would look to get him on a 2 day residential cookery course. there is a limited budget but have plans to rope others in and do it as a joint gift.

somewhere in eastanglia would be great but not essential.

any recommendations/thoughts??

Not in the area that you want but I can recommend Asburton Cookery School in Devon. I did their two day fish course a few years ago with a friend. We tackled lots of things that we'd nerve contemplate in our own kitchens (cleaning a squid was pretty disgusting) and there was a good balance between the cooking and sitting around drinking wine and enjoying what we'd made.

River Cottage do some courses apparently. A male friend of mine went on one and loved it. It was definitely related to cooking meat etc.
