coke and mentos - emergency how do you do it?

We just stuck 3 mentos in a 2ltr coke bottle. It fizzed a bit- how do you get it to be higher and more exciting looking?

Half a tube of mentos DH said plus reg coke.

He also drilled a hole in the lid last time and quickly put the lid on once the mentos were in. Then there was a smaller hole and the pressure was greater. I was worried it would go offlike a bomb, but the result was the fountain was higher.

DS wants to try drinking the coke and swallowing the mentos to see if he goes off like a fountain. So far we have put him off doing this. Eeuuww

It worked really well - we put a whole tube of mentos into a bottle and the kids thought it was spectacular.

It tastes revolting -like drinking some menthol rub

Diet coke is less sticky when it dries on the floor where you do it, but regular coke works just as well too.
