Hi
It seems dh is having a minor midlife crisis. Being 40 next February, he has decided that he wants a big themed party. A zombie party to be exact. Complete with spooky/yucky food, scary props and everyone dressed and face painted etc accordingly.
He has never had a big 'do' for his birthday and really wants to do this properly iykwim.
We have been looking around at venues but everytime we think we have found one, there is some reason why its not suitable.
We looked a the old library at the Custard Factory in Birmingham, but its a little too corporate/weddingy, despite having beautiful gothic windows.
We have been looking at the Hellfire Club in Manchester this morning, but having just read some truly awful reviews of the place, have decided not to bother even going to visit it.
So, I thought I would come on here and ask if anyone could think of anywhere we could use.
We are midlands, so pretty centrally located but will have friends coming from pretty much all over the uk. So we are happy to have the party almost anywhere, although perhaps we should limit ourselves to no further north thank Lancashire and nothing too far south.
Ideally we would like the venue to either have rooms for people who want to stay overnight, or be located near to decent hotels.
We would also like something atmospheric if possible. So either gothic or perhaps somewhere with flagstone floors and big fireplaces etc.
The party is going to be for somewhere between 75 and 100 people and we are thinking hundred's rather than thousands for room hire.
So, does any have any ideas as we have been looking on and off for a couple of months and have drawn a blank?
TIA
