All my family are going on and on about my 40th. I just don't know what to do.
My dad thought I would of went out for a big family meal, my sis thought I would of had a party in a club or the house. I want to go to New york, but hubby doesn't, then I feel guilty about leaving the kids out. I also fancied a lodge with a hot tub but then again leaving the kids out. My sis then said how about me, her and my mam go to a spa.
One of my kids is disabled and he is in respite the weekend following my birthday.
Please help me decide!!! TIA

Do something for yourself. Could you perhaps have a low-key family meal too?

Go to NYC on your own :) You could go for a day or two, doesn't need to be a long time. Arrive early afternoon, sightseeing, then a full day shopping etc the day after, then overnight flight back. If you get yourself exhausted you'll be able to sleep on the plane.

(If DH realises you are prepared to go on your own, perhaps he'll relent and come with you. My DP never wanted to visit the US, he thought it would be full of fat gun-toters, but when a friend cancelled he came to NYC with me and absolutely loved it. It's got all the best bits of London and Paris, with skyscrapers and cheap shops!)

Then, as pirateparty says, have a nice family meal when you get back.

I went to Barbados for my 40th. Weather was pretty much guaranteed, no pressure to have a party or go out and do something mega, no sitting around expectant and being disappointed if noone remembered to get me a card. It was fantastic!! Go to NY hun - go with your DH or go alone but if that's what you want to do, then do it oh and ~Happy Birthday~

Oops just reread posts and realised this was in August, guess I was a bit late, lol.

What did you do in the end?
